Job Description: Biomechanics Researcher - Sports Medicine
Position Overview:
The Biomechanics Researcher will play a crucial role in conducting in-depth research and analysis in the field of sports biomechanics. This position focuses on investigating the mechanics and movements of athletes to enhance performance, prevent injuries, and optimize rehabilitation strategies. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of professionals in the field of sports medicine and contribute to advancing the understanding of biomechanical principles in sports.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive biomechanical research studies to evaluate human movement patterns, forces, and loads during various athletic activities.
2. Collect and analyze data using state-of-the-art tools and technologies such as 3D motion capture systems, force plates, electromyography (EMG), and pressure sensors.
3. Develop experimental protocols and design experiments to investigate specific research questions related to sports performance and injury prevention.
4. Collaborate with sports scientists, coaches, and medical professionals to identify research needs and contribute to evidence-based decision making.
5. Stay updated with the latest advancements in sports biomechanics and integrate new techniques and methodologies into research projects.
6. Prepare detailed reports and scientific papers summarizing the research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences.
7. Assist in the development and implementation of innovative strategies and technologies to enhance athletes' performance and reduce the risk of injuries.
8. Maintain research equipment, ensure its calibration and functionality, and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
9. Provide guidance and support to other team members, including interns and research assistants, and participate in their training and development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Master's or Ph.D. degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in conducting research projects in the field of sports biomechanics, preferably with a focus on human movement analysis.
3. Strong knowledge of biomechanical principles, human anatomy, and physiology.
4. Proficiency in using specialized equipment and software for motion analysis, such as Vicon, Optotrak, or similar systems.
5. Experience in data collection and analysis techniques, including statistical analysis and signal processing.
6. Ability to design and execute experiments and develop research protocols independently.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex biomechanical data accurately.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare scientific reports and present research findings effectively.
9. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish productive relationships with colleagues and external partners.
